L'envolée (with English translation: The takeoff)

Following many difficulties and obstacles I have finally published my first article. Internet let me down the other night whist I was putting the final touches to this article, but my motivation is still strong!
MURAKOZE CYANE/ Thank you very much for your encouragements and your support, I really need them now. Here is a short summary of the trip to Rwanda, and already the magnificent views have made it worth the trouble.
SUNDAY, 1rst March, a semi-conscious Steph manages to hop onto her 5:40am train in Grenoble. Yes, as predicted, I left the last minutes adjustments and packing... to the last minute, so missed a few hours of sleep there.
Arrival at Lille, around midday, then express Eurostar to London. After enjoying the marvellous "tube", I spent the rest of the afternoon and evening waiting for my flight in Heathrow airport.
Smooth and comfy takeoff at 9pm (two seats all for myself, a cushion and a blanket), but there was so much adrenaline coursing through my veins that I didn't get much sleep.
Stop-over in Rome, to pick up a few more passengers, then off to AFRICA.
Through the small window of the aircraft, the clouds gradually reveal the first outlines of Ethiopia's coloured and warm land. While London "by night" had looked like rivers of gold, the roads lazily undulating between clumps of houses, the spectacular scene now unravelling before my eyes resembled a patchwork of reds, oranges, rich browns, ocres.
As I stepped out of the plane, (now Monday 2nd) I was immediately enveloped in warmth, and there's no regretting the cool rain back home!
A short stay in Addis Ababa airport, and off we go aboard a smaller aircraft, in direction of Kigali, RWANDA. On the way we stop at Entebbe, Uganda, and I stay glued to the window, in awe of the landscape. What I first believed to be the sea turned out to be a gigantic lake, dotted with islands with green turquoise waters in places: the Lake Victoria.
My body chose that moment to give in to exhaustion, and what seemed like seconds later we'd touched down in Kigali! The photos of Rwanda and the city will have to wait the return trip...
In the airport, I obtained my Visa without to much difficulty, but for 15 days only, so this will give me the occasion to come back to Kigali. A lovely surprised was waiting for me, as I came out lugging my two heavy suitcases: a small welcome committee with my name written on a board. The three members of SACCA then escorted me to the taxi, and after a few stops in the town centre for exchanging money and experience Rwandan cafés, we hit the road to Kayonza (approx an hour).
All is well, I am settling down and finally recovering from the long journey.
